Learn how to analyze beneficial ownership structures in Norwegian companies in just a few minutes.

Step 1: Prepare Your Data

Before analyzing, you need shareholder data in the system. You have two options:

Option A: Import from CSV

If you have shareholder data in a spreadsheet or CSV file, you can import it directly. The CSV should include:

  • Organization number (orgnr) - 9-digit company ID
  • Company name
  • Share class name
  • Shareholder name
  • Number of shares owned
  • Total shares in class
  • Voting multiplier (optional)

Option B: Use Existing Data

If data has already been imported for the company you want to analyze, you can skip directly to the analysis step.

Step 2: Run the Analysis

  1. Go to the Analysis page
  2. Enter the 9-digit Norwegian organization number (orgnr)
  3. Click "Analyze"

Porto will trace all ownership chains, solve any circular structures, and calculate effective ownership percentages.

Step 3: Review Results

The analysis results show:

Beneficial Owners

Entities with 25% or more ownership OR voting rights are highlighted as beneficial owners. Each card shows:

  • Name and identifier
  • Owner type (Individual, International Entity, etc.)
  • Ownership percentage
  • Voting percentage
  • Reason for qualification (ownership, voting, or both)

Other Shareholders

Shareholders below the 25% threshold are listed separately with their ownership and voting percentages.

Family Groups

If family groups have been defined, their aggregated ownership is shown. A family group qualifies as a beneficial owner if their combined holdings exceed 25%.

Warnings

Special situations are flagged:

  • Circular Ownership - Companies that own each other in a loop
  • Missing Data - Incomplete shareholder information
  • Complex Structure - Unusual ownership patterns that may need review

Example

Let's say you want to analyze a company with organization number 123456789:

  1. Go to /app
  2. Enter 123456789 in the search field
  3. Click "Analyze"
  4. Review the results showing all beneficial owners
